Week 6 - Sleepy & Sicky

I don't remember ever being this tired, constantly tired, ever before. No matter how much I sleep I still feel really tired. It's hard for me to concentrate on anything. Oh well, I guess that's a part of being pregnant.

What I hate the most is this constant feeling of nausea, I haven't thrown up since the day after Christmas, but I have the feeling of it pretty much all day. Sometimes I wish I would just throw up and get it over with but then I think more about it and realize that that's not really going to help. I hope this nauseous feeling will only last 3 months and not any longer.

Get ready for a growth spurt! By the end of this week your baby will have tripled in size -- to about 1/8 inch long (around the size of a lentil). And her heart is now beating with a regular rhythm. It's still too faint to be picked up by your doctor's stethoscope, but if you have a sonogram at some point over the next few weeks it will probably be visible as a tiny, pulsing dot in the middle of her mini body. Fun fact: From now until birth, your child's heart will beat about 150 times a minute -- twice the average adult rate. Her basic facial features will also start to take shape at this time, including an opening for her mouth and the beginnings of her eyes and ears. This week her brain is developing into distinct regions, and the beginnings of her stomach and lungs are starting to appear as well.

I still can't believe that I have a little one growing inside of me. I have a feeling that after I go to the doctor next week that I will believe it a little more.
