Joleen's Frist Half Birthday!
I cannot get over how fast this year has gone by. My sweet little baby is SIX months old! How is this even possible? I swear I had her last week and that was all!!!
She has been growing so much. She is starting to grab after EVERYTHING! If anything anywhere within in reach she thinks it's hers and needs to be in her mouth. One of Joleen's new favorite things to do is to put her binki in her mouth all by herself. I love watching her do it. She's gotten so good with it now. This video is from when she first started doing it.
Not only is she starting to DO more she is starting to YELL more :). She is becoming one very vocal little girl. Figuring out new sounds and the fact that she can be very loud! Joleen has also figured out the art of blowing raspberries. It's so cute.
One of my all time favorite things to do to little miss Jo is make her giggle. It is SO cute to me. I just love seeing her cute little chunky self smile and hear her sweet giggle. Melts a mommy's heart.
This month has been a learning month when it comes to starting her on solids. I heard people talking about the Baby Led Weaning option of skipping purees and just feeding the baby food that you eat. I have been doing this with Joleen along with feeding purees. She absolutely loves to feed herself. I was motivated to try this method because of how picky her sister is when it comes to food. Rachel just doesn't like to eat and I don't know what to do to help her try new things. I am kinda hoping that watching her sister eat the dinner that I make it will make Rachel want to eat it as well. We shall see. So far Joleen has eaten a taco (flour tortilla and a little bit of the meat and black beans), toast, biscuits, pancakes, sweet potato fries, rice, broccoli, banana, and green beans. I have been totally 100% gun ho on this way of feeding yet because I don't quite have all the information that I want about it. So I have just been giving her things that I know she can eat with the least possibility of choking. So along with the finger foods I have been giving her some purees. Half the time she won't eat them because she would much rather feed herself but if I give her something to eat, say a piece of toast, along with feeding the purees she will be much more receptive. It's been exciting learning a new way of thinking for both of us.
Along with eating by herself she is becoming intent on learning how to crawl. She gets so frustrated when she rolls over onto her tummy and can't reach what she wants. She just throws her face into the floor and whines. I am secretly hoping she will figure it out soon but then again I'm not. I don't want my baby to grow up TOO fast! She still hasn't figured out how to sit by herself, she does really well propped up next to something, like the Boppi, but she still hasn't got her balance yet. She way more interesting in diving for everything in front of her.
Well, I guess that is the six month update. Little Butterball just doesn't want to stop growing and mommy is okay with that. :)
