Week 4 - Nothing Much Happening

It's weird to think that I'm 4 1/2 weeks pregnant and I just found out. Doctors count the start of your pregnancy on the day you last started your period. Even though the baby is just a glimmer in your eye that's when you're considered pregnant. They do that because there's really no way to know when you actually conceived.

I have friends who were throwing up now and I don't even really feel sick. I wonder if I am going to have to deal with feeling sick. I kinda hope I don't.

Lately I have been thinking a lot about the possibility that I might have a miscarriage. My sister-in-law had one when she was 8 weeks along. My mom had one right before she got pregnant with me and my mom-in-love also had a miscarriage but that wasn't until after she had Josh and Ryan. So with all the possibilities of having one I am just lifting up this pregnancy to God. I know that whatever happens is in His Good and Perfect will. At least we know that we work! That was a big worry for us, wondering if we were even able to conceive.

Geeze! So much goes through your mind when you know that you are going to have a child. I know my life is going to change no matter what the out come is. Also, it's so cool to know that there's a little person growing inside me....RIGHT NOW!!!

This is what's happening inside me now:

As the fertilized egg grows, a water-tight sac forms around it, gradually filling with fluid. This is called the amniotic sac, and it helps cushion the growing embryo.

The placenta also develops. The placenta is a round, flat organ that transfers nutrients from the mother to the baby, and transfers wastes from the baby.

A primitive face takes form with large dark circles for eyes. The mouth, lower jaw, and throat are developing. Blood cells are taking shape, and circulation will begin.

By the end of the first month, your baby is about 1/4 inch long - smaller than a grain of rice!

(I stole this from WebMD if you want to check it out yourself.)

I am consistently praying for this little one in your tummy. I am praying that God will give protection and will keep this baby inside your womb for the entire 9 months. I am praying that you will feel well and not experience any hardship along the way, and that you will be able to deliver a healthy complete full term baby child!!
